Giselle is a beautiful romantic ballet. It was first performed in Paris, France in 1841, with Italian dancer Carlotta Grisi as Giselle.
The ghost-filled ballet tells the tragic, romantic story of a beautiful young peasant girl who falls for the flirtations of the deceitful and disguised nobleman Albrecht
The music for Giselle was composed by Adolphe Adam. Other than the Christmas carol Minuit, Chrétiens (known in English as O Holy Night), Giselle is Adam’s most famous work.
