Workshop Company Repertoire 6th and 7th August 2023

MOMO by Giuseppe Spota
Momo is based on the children’s novel by Michael Ende
Momo is a little girl who has no parents. She lives in the space under the stage of an old amphitheatre outside an unnamed Italian city. Her only food and home furnishings are things other people have brought her. And all she gives them in return is a listening ear. But that is enough. Momo is so good at listening that it almost qualifies as a magical gift.
But then the gray men come, they are time thieves, swindling the good folk of Momo’s city out of all their time for rest, joy, imagination, and friendship, and leaving them with nothing but hustle and bustle, worry and crabbiness. When Momo’s listening skills enable her to see through the gray men’s scheme, she becomes their enemy in a conflict that could save or destroy time itself, and all life with it.
Giuseppe Spota, Artistic director of MiR Dance Company. Spota created works for a.o. Aterballetto, Staatstheater Mainz, Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Gauthier Dance Theater, Nationaltheater Mannheim, Theater Regensburg and Theater Ulm.

Anat Oz is the winner at the International 24th Solo Tanz Theater Stuttgart in Germany, the 35th Hannover International Choreography Competition in Germany. And awarded at the RIDCC in Rotterdam with the Nederlands Dans Theater partner award (giving her the opportunity to work with NDT).
